Below are answers to common questions that Soul Sisters receive:
1. Why did you form Soul Sisters Paranormal?
All of the Soul Sisters' investigators have always had a fascination with the paranormal and with "ghost hunting" investigations. While small, impromptu investigations occurred before the formation of the group, we decided to formalize our group and our investigations in order to become more professional in the realm of paranormal investigators. We adopted the name Soul Sisters Paranormal, and we designed our skull logo (which represents aspects of death, life, spirituality, love, and the search for knowledge). Although we started as a team of 5 investigators, in 2020 the decision was made that twin sisters Jenny and Kristy would become the primary investigators for Soul Sisters Paranormal.
2. How do you choose your investigation locations?
For more "commercialized" investigations, we investigate locations across the country that advertise as "haunted" and that allow private, overnight investigations. We go to these places to hone our investigation skills, and to increase our evidence portfolio. We also use these opportunity to test new equipment and techniques in order to further the field of paranormal investigating that we share with others. The private (residential or business) investigations are conducted at locations that client's have asked us to investigate. We provide free-of-charge investigations services for those seeking to know if their home, business, or property is haunted.
3. What has been your most interesting investigation location so far?
All of the locations that we have investigated have been fascinating; not just for paranormal activity, but for the sheer fact that we are in places that hold so much history (not many folks can say that they have spent the night in a Revolutionary War fort, a penitentiary, or a lighthouse!). With regards to investigations, the St. Augustine Lighthouse has been one of the most interesting because it presented a different challenge in terms of equipment set-up and investigation techniques. Fort Mifflin's size also presented a unique challenge because we had to decide where to best place equipment. Brushy Mountain State Penn and Fort Mifflin have been two of the most exciting, thus far, simply due to the amazing paranormal evidence that we captured!
4. Why can't I hear what you are hearing on the clips that you have posted?
First, we want to point out that, except for a few cases where we have amplified the audio so that others can hear it, we do not manipulate our evidence in any way; you hear it/see it as we captured it on our audio and video equipment. That being said, when we review all of the audio and video footage that we have captured during an investigation, we are listening in a quiet room with headphone on and the volume level on maximum. 99.9% of the time, what we are listening to during that review is hours of nothing but the hum of silence and low resonance static; when an unanticipated whisper interrupts that silence, we hear it pretty darn clearly! Our recommendation for listening is that you sit in a quiet place, put on headphone or earbuds, and turn the volume to maximum. We try to put captions on our clips so that you can see where the whisper occurs during the clip (those without captions will have them added soon!)
5. Do you really believe in ghosts?
The short answer is, yes, we do. Over the investigations that we have conducted, we have seen, heard, smelled, and felt things that we cannot explain. All of our investigations are controlled as much as possible, in that we know where each investigator is at all times. We are fanatic about trying to control noise and other environmental factors (i.e. light) as much as possible, and we account for everyone (both our investigators and any on-site volunteer) throughout the night. That is important because when we review our audio and video footage and we catch an anomaly, we can cross reference where each investigator is at that point and time to ensure that none of us caused that anomaly. If there is any doubt, we do NOT consider it as part of our paranormal evidence and we do not post it! Additionally, except for instance of guest investigators, all Soul Sisters investigators are female (and we certainly do not have any children present on any investigation!). So, when we capture a male voice or a child's voice (for examples, listen to clips from The Exchange and from Trans-Alleghany Lunatic Asylum) we are certain that those voices are not being spoken by anyone "physically present" at the time. While we believe that certain souls have decided to stay in certain locations, we do not try to force that belief on others; you have to decide for yourself what you believe. We are simply presenting evidence that we have captured for which we have no "real world" explanation of their cause or origin.
