Sometimes life takes us to unexpected places. That was the case for Soul Sisters Paranormal when we decided on a sunny Sunday afternoon to drive by the location known as Malvern Manor in Malvern, Iowa. Our intentions were to look at the building from the outside and then, maybe, plan a return visit to conduct an investigation. However, the owner, Josh, was sitting on the front porch and welcomed us in to view the historic locations. After we told Josh that we had our equipment in the car because we were in the area to investigate at another location, he quickly and graciously allowed us to set up our equipment for a few hours to conduct an impromptu investigation. This four hour investigation led to Soul Sisters Paranormal capturing some very interesting paranormal evidence within the rooms and hallways of this once hotel turned nursing home.
During our investigation, we set up several stationary cameras and voice recorders in various locations throughout the building. We have put together a compilation of audio clips that we captured that afternoon. In the first clip, we were told that the spirit of a former patient that once resided in the nurse home liked to sit in the lobby of the building. Josh provided a picture of the man, Harry. During an EVP session, investigator Kristy asked if the was Harry in the picture. We captured an EVP saying, what we believe, is "no". The second clip in the compilation, is of an EVP captured in an upstairs bedroom supposedly haunted by an entity known as Hank. We had 3 EMF meters on the floor and we were attempting to get the entity to light up those meters if possible. Rather then lighting up the meters, we captured an EVP that we believe is saying "no". The third clip in the compilation was an EVP captured on the voice recorder that we left to run, stationary, in the room believed to be inhabited by the spirit of a young girl named Inez Gibson. It is documented that Inez died of accidental strangulation in 1900; however, her place of death was not in the building, but in nearby house belonging to her uncle. Regardless of her place of death, it seems that the spirit of Inez is at home in the upstairs room of Malvern Manor. While you can hear us in a room down the hallway, the voice recorder left in Inez's room captured a whisper when no one was present. The whisper says, what we believed is, "I am Inez". The fourth clip in the compilation was recorder in a hallway known to be inhabited by a shadow man. There was no one present in this area when the camera captures, what we believe is, the word "hey!" The final clip in the compilation was recorded during an EVP session in the attic. In attendance were 3 Soul Sisters investigators, Josh, and two female guests who stopped by for day tour. Josh was the only male, and he was sitting a far distance from this voice recorder; he confirms that he did not say anything during the time of its recording. The voice recorder captures, what we believe is, a male voice saying "you fuck...talk to me". While this investigation was completely unplanned, Soul Sisters Paranormal was able to capture some compelling evidence to support the assertion that Malvern Manor is haunted. We were sincerely grateful for the hospitality provided by Josh, and we are actively making plans to return to Malvern Manor in the near future. While most ghost hunters go to Iowa to visit the nearby Villisca Ax Murder house, we sincerely encourage a visit to Malvern Manor if you find yourself in the area!
